This research was conducted using the qualitative research method. This thesis studies the difference in leadership between a non-profit organisation and a for-profit organisation. Following this, the literature review discusses leadership styles and which styles suit a non-profit leader, as well as organisational behaviour. Lastly, the results of the research are discussed and analysed. The literature review discusses the non-profit sector and how non-profit organisations are funded in Finland. The qualitative research was conducted through interviews. Four non-profit leaders were interviewed to study the challenges that their organisation faces. The leaders in each organisation had different challenges that were unique to each organisation. The outcome and goals of the research are to produce new data on this area and provide knowledge on leadership challenges in non-profit organisations.
