PEMBERDAYAAN KELOMPOK DASAWISMA DALAM PEMANFAATAN LIMBAH TONGKOL JAGUNG SEBAGAI PLASTIC BIODEGRADABLE BERBASIS RAMAH LINGKUNGAN
Abstract The Bone Regency in South Sulawesi is predominantly an agricultural region with significant corn production. While corn is high in nutritional value and has various uses, the increase in agricultural production has also led to increased agricultural waste, such as corn cobs, which can cause environmental pollution. This community service aims to address this issue by transforming corn cob waste into environmentally friendly plastic biodegradables. The implementation method of this community service involves outreach, training, and mentoring for local community groups, particularly the Dasawisma Pisang in Patimpeng Village. The outreach provides an understanding of the benefits of corn cob waste, while the training teaches how to process it into biodegradable plastic. Mentoring is conducted to assist partners in overcoming challenges in production and product marketing. The results of the community service show an improvement in the partners' understanding and skills in processing corn cob waste into biodegradable plastic. Partners can economically utilize this waste, increase their income, and create environmentally friendly products. Thus, this community service contributes positively to the environment and the welfare of the local community. Abstrak Wilayah Kabupaten Bone, Sulawesi Selatan, didominasi oleh sektor pertanian dengan produksi jagung yang signifikan. Meskipun jagung memiliki nilai gizi tinggi dan beragam penggunaan, peningkatan produksi pertanian juga meningkatkan limbah pertanian, seperti tongkol jagung, yang dapat menyebabkan pencemaran lingkungan. Pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk mengatasi masalah ini dengan mengubah limbah tongkol jagung menjadi plastic biodegradable yang ramah lingkungan.
