A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
Queen Mary Interchange
One element of the CIVCAL project Web-based resources containing images, tables, texts and associated data on the construction of Queen Mary Interchange. This project is a government road improvement project at the two junctions of Sassoon Road and Bisney Road with Pok Fu Lam Road, on Hong Kong Island. Pok Fu Lam Road is one of the two major north/south strategic roads linking the southern district. Taking into account the continuing development in the southern island area, and the opening of Western Harbour Crossing and the existing signalised junction, severe congestion was expected. In order to alleviate the congestion at the Sassoon Road/Queen Marry Hostital/Pok Fu Lam Road junction, improvement to the junction was required e.g. to enable uniterrupted flows of heavy traffic in certain directions. ; Civil Engineering, construction, geotechnical, building site ; 1. Teachers can draw examples and illustrative material for lectures and demonstration. 2. Students can use the web-site for research and project work. ; All required plug-in downloadable from the site ; Designed for undergradute Civil and Building Engineering students. ; To enhance the learning and teaching of Civil and Building Engineering through ready access to virtual experiences on a variety of construction sites. ; 1. To enable virtual site visits. 2. To provide multi-media enhancement of teaching and learning material. 3. To provide supplementary material for courses in Civil and Building Engineering. 4. To provide resource material for students conducting independent studies. ; published_or_final_version ; http://civcal.media.hku.hk/queenmary/default.htm
