Landschaften der Stadtregionen unterliegen räumlichen Veränderungen der Urbanisierung, die mit einem Verlust von Identität und Lesbarkeit einhergehen. Traditionelle Landschafts- und Raumbilder können für zukünftige Entwicklungen hier kaum mehr Orientierung bieten. Diese Dissertation untersucht anhand aktueller Fallbeispiele die Potentiale und Kriterien für neue Lesarten und Bilder, die wirksame Impulse zur Qualifizierung stadtregionaler Landschaften geben können. Aus der Perspektive der Landschaftsarchitektur wird diskutiert, wie großräumige Orientierungsqualitäten dieser Landschaften durch räumlich-gestalterische Interventionen gestärkt werden können. ; Contemporary cultural landscapes of cities and metropolitan regions, being transformed by dynamics of urbanization, have lost identity and legibility. New readings and spatial images are required to develop future qualification strategies at a regional scale. From the perspective of the discipline of landscape architecture, this dissertation investigates the potential of design interventions based on the criteria of spatial orientation in large-scale landscapes. The research is based on current case studies of landscape development strategies in specific urban regions that reveal new readings of the spatial typologies of contemporary landscapes.
