Hudson River, Night Scene, Collar District, Troy, N.Y. [front caption] (1front) [h00156ac1]
A northern nighttime view, from the vantage point of the Hudson River, of the warehouses and factories of Troy, New York, crowding the river's shore. The only lights are from a full moon breaking through heavy dark clouds, as well as from the factory windows aglow with artificial light from within. The Hudson River is calm, even mirror-like, holding reflections of the moon light and commercial facilities. A barge is moored in the foreground. On the largest factory building the the words "Factories", "Monarch Shirts" and "Collars" have been painted across the building's river-facing facade. Indistinguishable human figures are stationed near the pier or landing dock which extends into the river. The night sky is intermittently punctuated with smokestacks. The image appears to be a hand-colored photograph. Written message in blank space between printed lines (From Fred F.
