Bepaling van behuisingsbehoeftes en -voorsiening vir eienaars, huurders en loseerders in Mangaung (Bloemfontein)
The aim of the article is to determine the position with regard to housing in Mangaung (Bloemfontein). As a consequence of the changing political situation, certain housing alternatives are now open for blacks in urban areas. The housing situation effects not only the house owner, but also the lessor and the lodger. The first conclusion reached was that although 77,9 percent of the residential lots were in private ownership, only 56,9 percent of the households owned their own houses. Secondly, it was found that there are small differences between the owners on the one hand and lessees and lodgers on the other with regard to their ability to purchasetheir own residential units. Thirdly, it was found that a high percentage of the lessees/ lodger families choose to stay in their present residential units, rather than move to better accommodation outside Mangaung (for example Botshabelo).*This article is written in Afrikaans.
