Membangun Kesadaran Masyarakat Dalam Pengelolaan Sampah Anorganik Melalui Ecobrick Berbasis Rumah Tangga
Plastic waste in Indonesia is the main source of waste weight accumulation, especially plastic is decomposed within 1 millennium or about 1000 years. So, the 3R principles, namely Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle, should be applied in dealing with plastic waste. One of the waste recycling that is currently popular is recycling plastic bottles through ecobricks. The western part of Karangagung Village is one of the areas that has problems with waste management because the system that is formed does not work well. In addition, it is supported by the low awareness of its citizens on waste management. The community service method carried out in the context of educating the ecobricks method is carried out in three stages, including the preparation stage, the socialization and simulation stage, and the final stage. The preparation stage consists of collecting data and making ecobricks module. The next stage consists of socialization, education and practice of processing plastic waste into products that are useful, have added value and are safe for the environment using the ecobricks method and stage I monitoring. The final stage consists of making a final report and stage II monitoring. The result of community service is a decrease in the amount of unprocessed plastic waste which has implications for the greater awareness of the residents of RT 009/RW 002 in waste management, and can become a pilot project and best practice in managing waste in rural areas.
