Urban Green Space and Wetland Dynamics by Urbanization Impact: Protective Perspective by Present Monitoring Laws on Municipality
Water body and green space is very important elements of ecosystem to keep functioningnbsp;of urban environment and to make relaxed of urban life. This study is an effort to detectthe wetland and green space changes by the urbanization impact in savar municipality, nbsp;Bangladesh. The changes of the important environmental issues are addressed here by thenbsp;existing rules and regulations. In the methodology both the primary and secondary data isnbsp;used to identify the urbanization impact and land use dynamics on urban agriculturalnbsp;land and wetland. From the USGS satellite (landsat 5 thematic mapper-TM) for the year ofnbsp;1996, 2007 and 2018 data is used. Using a supervised classification algorithm, from a set ofnbsp;satellite images the land use change data were extracted. Producer’s accuracy, user’snbsp;accuracy, overall accuracy and kappa coefficient model is used to check the accuracy ofnbsp;the classified images and deriving all of the model the accuracy is about 80% and it meansnbsp;it is substantial agreement of the accuracy. The result exposed that agricultural land andnbsp;green spaces and water body of savar municipality has gradually decreased and lastnbsp;twenty years (1996 to 2018) about 385 ha agricultural and urban green space is lost andnbsp;about 171 ha water body is lost. Urbanization rate and build up area is significant factor tonbsp;lose the green spaces. The reduction of water body and agricultural or green space isnbsp;attributed due to the implementation of existing rules and regulations. In order to ensurenbsp;sustainable water body and green spaces in the municipality the laws should be executednbsp;for appropriate working of the municipality’s environment.
