Milano è capitale del Moderno ma anche del contemporaneo con edifici di tanti livelli diversi e con caratteristiche diverse che però mediamente, secondo me, sono di qualità buona. E questa architettura di qualità sostiene e legittima la trasformazione di una città, la aiuta e la guida nell’impresa, sempre traumatica, di cambiare la propria fisionomia, di spostare centralità, di rimescolare valori culturali e immobiliari. ; One of the aspects that I find absolutely decisive is the planning of public spaces, because it is necessary to mark the fundamental difference between the time when the first-generation large high-rise buildings were being built, when Pirelli and Velasca were building modernist totems (also in historicism of BBPR) but were substantially part of the late xix Century urban settings. Instead, in the new Milanese projects, the reinvention of public space is a critical transition, and these attempts, these as well for the most part of the highest quality, assert another idea of the city, an unexpected development of the xx Century Milan.
