Survey on project management methodologies used in Danish Project Management Association community
The survey on project management methodologies used in the Danish Project Management Association Community was conducted in December 2020; it consisted of a set of questions related to the use of project management methodologies in Danish organizations. The purpose of this survey was to lay out the landscape of project management methodologies used in Danish organizations to learn which are most often used, for which project types, and how successful they were. The survey was distributed to 1,778 individuals representing 555 unique organizations. A total of 132 individual complete or partially complete responses were received, where 67 individuals responded to the main question of interest, that concerns which project management methodologies are used in the respondent’s organization. The most prevalent respondents were project managers and senior project managers. In total, 66% of the individuals replied that most of the time or always a defined project management methodology was applied. Only 5% reported that they never apply a defined project management methodology in their organization. The most common response as to why a defined project management methodology is not applied in the respondent’s organization is that the organization is not ready to adapt an external project management methodology and needs to build up knowledge and experience. In total 52% of the respondents replied that they apply other project management methodologies than the options listed in the survey. The term “other” refers to the situation where a respondent reported using a project management methodology that listed as an option to choose from in the survey. Each respondent had the option to report multiple unlisted project management methodologies. These unlisted project management methodologies tend to be internally developed project management methodologies or unlisted external project management methodologies.
