The thesis deals with the problematic aspects of glass art in the public spaces. The factors that influence the formation and popularity of the tradition of glass art in the public space in terms of educational, social and public contemporary culture transformations are analysed. The thesis focuses on current phenomena that throughout the last decades have caused a radical cultural change in terms of putting the development of Lithuanian glass art against that of other countries. The importance and meaning of education are looked upon in the development of different stages of contemporary glass art and in broadcasting of the phenomena in the public consciousness. It is explained what role the dialogue in sociocultural environment and studying local cultural functions has had in the introduction of cultural intervention in the exterior. The thesis also details the harmony between a modern city and glass art. The possibilities of glass art in the public space are suggested to develop a cultural medium and its consumers’ factors. The thesis contains an analysis of the creative diversity of glass art in public spaces as well as the distinctions of glass art in the creative space.
