First Methodist Church
The First Methodist Church of Port Washington [NY] was built in 1871 on the corner of Bayview and Carlton Avenues, and originally known as the Methodist Episcopal Church. In 1883 the church building was moved to the corner of Main Street and North Washington Streets, on the current site of the Port Washington Public Library. Before being demolished in 1967, its hilltop location made the church a natural landmark for over eighty years.
