DAMPAK PENGASAPAN KAYU TERHADAP SIFAT FISIK KAYU AKASIA (Acacia mangium Willd) DAN KAYU LABAN (Vitex pubescens Vahl)
The research objective was to determine the influence of traditional timber fumigation of the physical properties of Acacia wood and Laban. The research was conducted in the Wood Workshop laboratory and Wood Technology Laboratory Faculty of Forestry, University of Tanjungpura Pontianak. The research methodology was using a completely randomized design with 2 factors. The first factor consists of two sub-factors: the controlled wood and smoked wood. The second factor is the type of wood, consist of Acacia wood and Laban wood. Each sample was made in three replications. Fumigation carried out for two weeks. Time of fumigation was three hours in the morning, and continued three hours in the afternoon. The results showed a mean value of water content of Acacia Wood and Laban Wood control was 15.29% and 19.04%. Mean while on treatment fumigation the average moisture content of Acacia Wood was 9.85% and Laban Wood was 5.05%. Acacia wood density and Laban wood control was 0.6255 and 0.5816, while on Acacia Wood and Laban Wood with fumigation treatment was 0.5223 and 0.5547. A mean value of dimensional change Acacia wood and Laban wood control was 5.12% and 11.66%. Meanwhile the average values of dimensions change for Acacia Wood and LabanWood treated by fumigation was 7.88% and 13.57%. Fumigation treatment has an impact on the physical properties of wood.Keywords: Acacia, Laban, moisture content, smoke treatment,wood fumigation
