Comparison of Mechanical Properties of Nominal Concrete with Steel Fiber Reinforced Cement Concrete
Concrete is very common material to construct any kind of structure. In recent times across the globe concrete is the number one choice of construction, however like every material concrete have its own set of problems, this paper mainly focused on the comparative analysis of the normal concrete and the steel fiber reinforced cement concrete. Concrete usually known for its ability to withstand higher compressive strength however concrete is poor in tensile strength. Various research papers have indicated that adding fibers to concrete significantly increase its mechanical properties. Present study is attempted to increase potential; of steel fiber in concrete. Results shows the increase in various mechanical properties in concrete particularly in split tensile strength these is a little to no increase in nominal compressive strength but significant increase in the split tensile strength. As we increase the fiber content by weight of the concrete from 0.3, 0.6, 0.9, and 1.2%.
