A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
ARCHITECTURE FOR THE UN SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS
In order to build a strong understanding of the current state of the art in architectural research and industry efforts we have created an international mapping of over 100 researchers and practitioners currently working to achieve the sustainable development goals. The mapping shows the diversity of knowledge that the field of architecture embodies as well as the breadth of contributions we can achieve. From formulating overarching strategies for city planning, environmental design or systems design to the specific design of the single community, building or home, architecture from all regions is present across all 17 Sustainable Development Goals. The international mapping presents an image of the nature of existing efforts, the problem space addressed, the discourse and the methods by which this research is undertaken. The mapping is created so as to ensure that the UIA2023 panels are well grounded in existing architectural research communities and to understand their global distribution. We have made an effort to find representation for all panel across the five UIA regions. The mapping allows us to: • Ground the panel descriptions in existing research trajectories and efforts • Understand the scientific output of the UIA 2023 Science Track • Understand participation in 2023 • Identify keynote speakers and invited presenters ; Published by UIA2023CPH
