Renewable Energies Perspective to the Energy Performance of Buildings
Introduction of renewable energy technologies in the built environment gives opportunities to improve the energy performance of buildings. In particular the use of solar energy applications offers a variety of possibilities. The Energy Efficiency and Energy Service Directive and the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive require all Member States to implement national regulations within the near future. Other European Directives are stimulating further improvements in energy performance and energy efficiency in the building sector. Integration of renewable energy sources for heating and electricity in the built environment is also stimulated through national regulations in a few Member States. This paper presents renewable energy technologies and related CEN energy standards dealing with the built environment taking into account the overall energy demand of the building and placed in the overall energy context. ; JRC.F.8-Renewable Energy (Ispra)
