Life cycle assessement for wind turbines
Energy generation devices do not only create emissions during the production stage, there are likewise environmental effects associated with manufacturing, construction, and end of life stages. The traditional energy resources like coal, solar cannot be totally relied upon. Wind energy has become one of the most effective resources of renewable energy sources. However, wind turbine will still generate environmental effect during its life cycle. This project analyzed the life cycle environmental effects of two wind turbines, 1.65 MW and 2 MW wind turbines. This study showed the steps involved in building a life cycle assessment model. This study used Life Cycle Assessment software, GaBi education version with a limited database, to generate relatively accurate results by comparing to existing results from previous literatures. This study compared the results with other traditional energy generating resources. Keywords: Life cycle assessment and wind turbines.
