A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
What makes a region? And how can you talk about it? The focus of this book is on people and their fates: we tell five stories that illustrate life in the Greater Region, the area of cross-border cooperation covering parts of Belgium, Luxembourg, Rhineland-Palatinate, Saarland and Lorraine. The book (re)introduces pioneers of cooperation and a united Europe, but we also tell stories of everyday life across the border, a lively European swing dance scene and the fate of an entrepreneurial family on the Rhine. These individual destinies come together to form a picture of a border region on its way to Europe after centuries of conflict.
