Termiškai pertvarkytosios medienos tinkamumo laikančiosioms konstrukcijoms vertinimas ; Thermally reformed timber suitability evaluation for bearing structures
In the final thesis of master degree load-bearing structures of thermally reformed timber are examined. Tests are made with latvian spruce (picea abies) wood. In final master work tests that are done in foreign coutries are described as well as differend modification methods. The main research object – nailed connections. Distances between the nails along the wood fiber are chosen different. Behavior of ordinary and thermally modified timber are being compared. Humidity and density are also determined. Previous studies have shown that mechanical properties of thermally modified timber become worse. However, physical properties are improved, as same as resistance to microorganisms, environmental impacts. Because of worsening of mechanical properties this timber is not used for bearing structures so far. After experimental analysis all results are systemized, all positive and negative factors are evaluated and conclusions are presented. Results show that thermally reformed timber could be used for connections of load-bearing structures such as nailed connections. In some ways this timber is even better than usual timber, in some – not. Structure: introduction, overview of literature sources, experimental part, conclusions and suggestions, references. Thesis consist of: 96 p. text without appendixes, 99 pictures, 2 tables, 26 bibliographical entries. Appendixes included.
