The main purpose of the bachelor thesis was to analyse theoretical presumptions of carbon footprint and to evaluate the possibilities of carbon footprint reduction in case of construction companies. The paper consists of three main parts. The first part provides the theoretical analysis of carbon footprint. This part reveals the role of ecological footprint in the context of social responsibility, provides the concept and structure of carbon footprint, presents methods and indexes applicable for the assessment of carbon footprint and provides trends and means for the reduction of carbon footprint. The second part presents methodology for the empirical research in construction sector. This part forecasts the goal and process of the research, chooses appropriate method, sample, projects organization of the research and its data analysis. The third part starts with the presentation of primary characteristics of Lithuanian construction industry. Later, a detailed assessment of carbon footprint in construction industry is provided. At last, the paper renders recommendations for the reduction of carbon footprint in construction industry.
