Das Wasserschloss in Sulz-Glatt/Baden-Württemberg : Studien zum Schlossbau der Renaissance in Süddeutschland unter besonderer Beruecksichtigung der kastellartigen Schlossanlagen ; The Moated Palace of Sulz-Glatt in Baden-Wuerttemberg : studies in Renaissance Palace building in South Germany, with particular consideration of the palaces belonging to the so-called "Kastell" style.
Die Dissertation gliedert sich in drei Teile: in die Dokumentation (1), in die kunsthistorische Einordnung (2) und in den Katalog (3). Während in der Dokumentation der Schwerpunkt darauf liegt, die bislang nur ungenuegend betrachtete Baugeschichte des Glatter Wasserschlosses zu ermitteln, wird in der kunsthistorischen Einordnung die Stellung des Glatter Wasserschlosses innerhalb der sueddeutschen Schloesserlandschaft untersucht. Im Katalog schließlich werden die Schlossanlagen in Sueddeutschland, deren Grundrisse verschiedene Typen und Entwicklungsstufen des „Kastelltyps“ widerspiegeln (1400–1720), chronologisch zusammengestellt. ; The dissertation is divided into three parts: the documentation, the classification and the catalogue. In the documentation section, the emphasis lies on the history of the Glatt Moated Palace, which hitherto has been all too insufficiently explored. In the second part of the dissertation, this palace is examined from an art history perspective in the context of the various palace buildings in South Germany. The final section comprises the catalogue, a chronological compilation of all the palaces in South Germany where the layouts reflect the various stages of development of those buildings which belong to the so-called “Kastell” style (1400–1720).
