A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
History and Lanscape. A project for Pinocchio
The survival of the Italian landscape, preserved and enhanced even within a social scenario, necessarly involves the cultural heritage of the places and refuses an undifferentiated development of a land, which, exactly by its variance, expresses beauty, continuity and harmony. Despite the events of the modernity tend to weaken the natural, historical and cultural environment, it is unimaginable, in Italy, the idea of an architecture, which is unrelated to the idea of landscape, especially considering current environmental issues. The process of renovation and enhancement of the ancient heritage becomes itself contruction of the knowledge and output for a cultural production, where the awareness of the past and the inclination to the future represent key factors for the disclosure and the development of the knowledge. In such a context, the harmonious continuity represents a propositive interpretation of a renewed dimension of the landscape. The work concerns a description of the campaign for the preservation and for the physical and functional regeneration of the historical complex Villa e Giardino Garzoni in Collodi, Pistoia, started in 2001 and concluded in about a decade, whose monumental dimensions are an essential element within the urban system of Collodi.
