Athenaheiligtum von Priene ; The sanctuary of Athena at Priene
Das der Athena geweihte Hauptheiligtum der Stadt Priene ist eines der wenigen städtischen Heiligtümer seiner Epoche, dessen Bestand im großen und ganzen vollständig ergraben und erhalten ist. Die Arbeit legt zum einen die drei Nebenbauten des Heiligtums - Altar, Halle und Propylon - vor, die in ihrem Bestand vorgestellt, rekonstruiert sowie auf Bauphasen, Datierung und ihren Entwurf hin untersucht werden. In einem abschließenden Kapitel wird die Gesamtanlage des Heiligtums betrachtet. Dabei wird sowohl versucht, die ursprüngliche, spätklassische Anlage zu erschließen, als auch den Prozeß der baulichen Entwicklung in seinen Einzelphasen nachzuvollziehen, der vom Baubeginn des Tempels im mittleren 4. Jh. v. Chr. bis zu dessen Vollendung etwa unter Augustus und der Errichtung des Propylons einen Zeitraum von annähernd 350 Jahren umfaßt. ; The sanctuary of Athena was the main sanctuary of the polis Priene. It is one of the few sanctuaries of its era situated inside a city and about complete excavated and preserved. Subject of the thesis are on the one side the three secondary buildings: the altar, the stoa and the propylon. They are presented with all found remains, reconstructed in detail and investigated about their building phases, datation and design. The final chapter examines the allover composition of the sanctuary. This contains the attempt both to find out the original plan in late classical time and to follow the process of structural changes in every stage of development. This spans over a time of about 350 years beginning with the start to construct the temple in the middle 4th century BCE to its finishing under Augustus or so and the construction of the propylon.
