A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism

The paper proposes a critical reading on various levels of one of the few existing examples of me- dieval architecture in Messina after the 1908 earthquake. The drawings, taken into consideration, are the outcome of surveys carried out in different eras and for different purposes, reflecting the building transformations from the first decades of the 1900s to the early years of the twenty-first century. At the end of the analysis, the traditional procedures, with which were investigated aspects relating to the methods of representation, have been integrated with updated representations and decoding methodologies that define as a final result a digital model of the factory within its current forms. The elaboration made it possible to identify the main compositional elements of the building and the underlying geometric-formal rules.
