L’URBANISME DURABLE A TRAVERS L’INTERACTION: FORMES URBAINES/CLIMAT CAS DE L’HABITAT INDIVIDUEL A LA VILLE D’AIN SMARA (ALGERIE)
Contemporary urban planning is confronted with a new way of conceiving and planning according to different principles of sustainability, including the use of "high urbandensities»especially for hot and arid climates. The problem of urban density and its relationship with the urban microclimate, which is the subject of this research, is taken into consideration in its regulatory context and will be treated through the city of Ain Smara located in the North-East of Algeria and known by its semi-arid climate. The reality of urban density and the evaluation of its effect on the microclimatic parameters especially on the air temperature through this city were evaluated on the basis of the two density indicators dictated by the Algerian urban regulations. They are: the COS as an indicator of the vertical density and the CES which expresses the horizontal density. This investigation concerned different individual housing sites distributed across the city. For this, an approach will be carried out at different urban scales. The main challenge was to find a morpho-climatic indicator in order to be able to make an adequate choice of urban density according to local and specific climatic and microclimatic data. To achieve this objective, several research tools were used, namely: GIS (Geographic Information System) as well as simulation models such us "Envi-met4»and "RayMan". In conclusion of this research, we succeeded in defining for the first time a Morpho-climatic indicator of urban density. Urban planning and sustainability can finally be united in Algerian regulatory texts.
