The evolution of personal branding: A systematic review ; THE EVOLUTION OF PERSONAL BRANDING: A SYSTEMATIC REVIEW
The concept of personal branding has becomecrucial in determining the pathsof individuals and organizations in the constantly evolving professional landscape, marked by the widespread use of digital media. "The Evolution of Personal Branding" is asystematic literature review that aims to provide a thorough historical overview of personal branding, following its origins to its current prominence, with a particular focus on major research publications , studies and insights. Purpose: To review systematically the evolution of personal branding emphasizing influential scholars and provide a framework for future studies. Design/methodology/approach: An integrative literature search was executed through ScienceDirect and Google Scholar using the search terms "personal branding," "self-branding," "history of personal branding” on a specified date range (1980 to present). The paper conforms to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) model. Findings: This review provides a systematic overview of the insights, definitions and studies of Personal Branding developed by different scholars. The information gathered contributed to set a framework at the end. Originality/value: This paper aims to delve into the details of the development of personal branding from its beginning to its current prominence by highlighting the key pioneers and scholars who have previously discussed it.
