Das transformative Potenzial suffizienzorientierter Stadtentwicklung als Beitrag zur Postwachstumsstadt in Wien
In spatial and planning sciences, post-growth approaches are increasingly recognised as having the potential to drive sustainability transformation in cities and mitigate the enormous global resource consumption. In the post-growth discourse, there is a sensus that urban planning is overly oriented towards the paradigm of green growth and that too little questioning is done as to whether the growth of the building stock and mobility can be managed in a resource-saving way through consistency and efficiency strategies. Thus, the contribution examines the transformative potential of sufficiency strategies and creates a conceptual framework to identify sufficiencyoriented approaches in urban development. The city of Vienna serves as a case study to show specific links on the way to sufficiency-oriented urban development – through disruptions, institutions and niches, as well as at their interfaces.
