Landscape as a Resource
Land use is an expression of our culture. Considering the enormous extent of how this valuable resource is consumed, we should ask how we can use it less wastefully in the future. The era of coal and oil is tied to enormos increases in greenhouse gases. In this regard, however, many side effects become apparent that we need to consider. For instance, the way we deal with land and our urge to build new things comprise two momentous phenomena that exemplify the alienation present within our relationship with nature.
Die Nutzung von Fläche ist ein Ausdruck unserer Kultur. Angesichts des enormen Verbrauchs dieser kostbaren Ressource müssen wir uns fragen, wie künftig eine sparsamere Nutzung möglich ist. Das Kohle- und Ölzeitalter ist nicht nur mit einem enormen Anstieg der Treibhausgase in der Atmosphäre verbunden, sondern hat viele Begleiterscheinungen, mit denen wir uns beschäftigen müssen. Unser Umgang mit Fläche und unser Drang Neues zu bauen sind dabei zwei gewichtige Phänomene, in der unser entfremdetes Verhältnis zur Natur sichtbar wird.
