In Dübendorf an der östlichen Stadtgrenze Zürichs wird das Firmengelände der ehemaligen Spinnerei Zwicky zu einem neuen Stadtteil transformiert. Das Areal zwischen Autobahnzubringer und S-Bahn-Viadukt leidet zwar unter hoher Lärmbelastung, bietet jedoch für den Ballungsraum Zürich vergleichsweise kostengünstige Grundstücke., , Für den südlichen Teil entwickelten die Züricher Architekten Schneider Studer Primas ein städtebauliches und architektonisches Ensemble, das auf die Situation reagiert und bezahlbaren Wohnraum schafft. Sie konzipierten für die drei Bauträger – darunter die Bau- und Wohngenossenschaft Kraftwerk1 – flexibel nutzbare Strukturen, die sich für Wohnen und Arbeiten gleichermaßen eignen, insgesamt 280 Wohnungen und 5900 m2 Gewerbefläche.
