Auf dem Vorplatz des Lasipalatsi im Zentrum von Helsinki wölben sich amorph geformte Kuppeln zu einer künstlichen Landschaft. Das hügelige Gelände ist das Dach des unterirdischen Museums im Kulturzentrum Amos Rex. Als wolle er sich nicht unter der Erde verstecken, durchbricht der Museumsbau die Asphaltdecke und verwandelt sie zu einem beliebten Treffpunkt. Die mit Betonfliesen belegten Wölbungen laden zum Sitzen, Spielen und Skaten ein.
In the forecourt of the Lasipalatsi (“Glass Palace”) in the centre of Helsinki, a series of fluidly shaped domes swell from the ground to form an artificial landscape. This area is actually the roof of an underground museum in the Amos Rex cultural centre. As if not wishing to remain concealed, the museum complex bulges out of the asphalted courtyard and has transformed it into a popular meeting place. Finished with concrete tiles, the curved domes invite visitors to sit, play and skate on them.
