Mithilfe eines leuchtend grünen Raummöbels verwandelt das Designerstudio De Nieuwe Context ein Künstleratelier in eine luftige Unterkunft für Gäste. Das Anwesen De Heiligenberg in der niederländischen Provinz Limburg hat eine wechselvolle Geschichte hinter sich. Erstmals erwähnt wurde es bereits 1381. Im 16. Jahrhundert während der spanischen Herrschaft wurde es als feudaler Gutshof genutzt, später ging es in Privatbesitz über. Das heute noch bestehende Landhaus wurde um 1740 errichtet, verfiel im Laufe der Zeit jedoch zur Ruine. Der niederländische Künstler Daan Wildschut ließ es in den 1950er-Jahren restaurieren und richtete sein Atelier dort ein. Die heutigen Besitzer fanden das Gebäude erneut in schlechtem Zustand vor. Die Wände waren feucht, viele der Holzbalken verrottet. Studio De Nieuwe Context hat das Landhaus nun thermisch saniert. Das Nebengebäude und frühere Atelier verwandelten sie in eine charmante Gästeunterkunft.
By installing a piece of spatial furniture with bright green colour, the design studio De Nieuwe Context transforms an artist’s studio into an airy guest apartment. The estate De Heiligenberg in the Dutch province of Limburg boasts an eventful history. It was first documented in 1381. In the 16th century during Spanish rule, it served as a feudal homestead. Later on, it became private property. The cottage still existing today was built around 1740. In the course of time, however, it fell into disrepair. The Dutch artist Daan Wildschut initiated its restoration in the mid-1950s and installed his studio there. When the current owners found it, it was once more in a decrepit condition. The walls were damp and many of the timber beams had rotted. Studio De Nieuwe Context undertook a thermal rehabilitation of the cottage. They transformed the auxiliary building and former studio of Wildschut’s into a charming guest apartment.
