What are your tasks as Chief City Architect of Copenhagen? I am an advisor to the politicians and to the administration, meaning that I see and touch almost everything that is built in the city. The question of climate neutrality is increasingly important in this regard. About 30% of the CO2 emissions in Copenhagen are related to the building industry and about 30% are related to mobility. To me, mobility is also part of architecture and city planning. Building metro stations, cycle lanes, and car-free zones in the city centre are very much about reducing the climate impact.
Welche Aufgaben haben Sie als Chief City Architect? Ich berate die Politik und die Verwaltung, deshalb sehe ich fast alles, was in der Stadt neu gebaut wird und mische mich ein. Dabei hat die CO2-Neutralität grundlegend an Bedeutung zugenommen. Etwa 30% der CO2 Emissionen in Kopenhagen verteilen sich auf die Bauindustrie und circa 30% sind der Mobilität geschuldet. Deshalb sind Fragen der Mobilität für mich Teil der Architektur und der Stadtplanung. Wie wir unsere U-Bahn bauen, Fahrradwege anlegen und autofreie Zonen im Stadtzentrum schaffen, hat direkte Auswirkungen auf das Klima.
