L’économie circulaire : une source d’innovation pour les agriculteurs urbains
Cities contain resources that can be exploited for agricultural production purposes. By immersing itself in the urban flows, new agricultural actors appear in cities and its surrounded. Indeed, urban agriculture projects are one of the solutions for integrating a circular economy in urban areas. They make it possible by sensitizing city dwellers to a local consumption, by valorizing bio-waste, by recycling water or by rehabilitating buildings. Among many definitions of urban agriculture, the one given by the United Nations on Agriculture and Food (FAO) is close to this observation : "Urban and peri-urban agriculture are defined by agricultural practices in cities and around cities which use resources (land, water, energy, labor) that can also be used for other purposes to meet the needs of the urban population "(FAO, 2007). Examples analyzed in North America and Europe demonstrate how urban agriculture projects can perfectly fit into the circular economy.
