Utilizing innovative technologies to achieve resilience in heritage buildings preservation
Preservation usually keeps nation's history alive, and the advantages of preservation and resilience, which is an advanced procedure, are clear, as these processes have social and environmental values, so they require a synergetic framework to merge preservation, resilience, and innovative technologies to sustain efficient preservation. The aim of the paper is to develop preservation as a resilient and sustainable ongoing process, through integrating HBIM and IOT tools in the application of resilient preservation (Elabd., 2020). To achieve the aim of the paper, a number of research methods have been adopted: Firstly, literature of theoretical background, in order to identify the value and risks of heritage buildings, develop the characteristics for efficient heritage buildings and to assess different resilience frameworks for heritage buildings and communities then analyze and develop the results. Secondly, analysis of case studies in order to identify how to practically implement resilience through HBIM and IOT technologies. The result of the research process is a framework introduced at the end of this paper which considers the steps of preservation, and resilience with the people involvement in the process, it will merge resilience as a preservation approach, HBIM as a documentation tool, IOT as a smart tool and resilience goals as guiding principles.
