Spatial composition and premise arrangement of traditional Manchu village in Northeast China

Abstract The aim of this study was to elucidate the spatial composition and premises arrangement of a traditional Manchu village by a case study on Shengli Village. In Shengli Village, settled areas were consolidated by the government during the 1960s. Therefore, we attempted to use a statistical analytic method to examine the road contact condition, shape of the house lot, homestead area, and premises arrangement before and after compactification of the residential area. The results revealed different spatial characteristics due to the period of building land development.
