ARCHAEOLOGICAL SITE IN A MODERN URBAN ENVIRONMENT
The article considers the current trends in the inclusion of archaeological sites in open public spaces (OOP) of modern cities. The study explored architectural methods of allowing and restricting access for tourists and citizens to museumified objects of history and culture. Domestic and foreign experiences in designing sustainable urban environments were reviewed to systematize architectural and planning techniques for organizing archeological sightseeing, landscaping, site improving, and laying out tourist pedestrian routes and observation platforms. The study involved select practices of designing museumified objects integrated in a modern urban environment that have proven to be effective over several decades. A field study with photofixation was carried out to investigate archeological sites successfully combining the basic principles of sustainable development: cost-effectiveness, environmental friendliness, and social accessibility for all segments of the population.
