This article proposes a comparative analysis grid test of three territorial transition trajectories. It defines the territorial opportunity structure of transition, territorial energy capacity and the right to transition as criteria for reading what is at work in the energy transition via the hydrogen vector. It shows that although hydrogen plays a mediating role in the territorialization of the energy transition, it is part of a techno-economic framework that leaves little room for territorial projects likely to go beyond the issues of social acceptability of the techniques.
