A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
The text reflects on the methods and aims of interpreting landscape in the works of picturesque travellers and in the activities of those who deal with issues that produce changes on extraordinary landscapes. Comparison leads us to ask ourselves, after just over two centuries, how much we recognize in those landscapes, and if there is a way to preserve them with all their finest features notwithstanding the need for transformation required by modern life. Comparison that comes from both the understanding of some landscapes of the late 18th Ionian Calabria (Roccella, Gerace, Locri, Condojanni, Bova Marina) and from the modern view, reveals different and unpredictable situations.
