Che Hassan Fathy lavori sulla tradizione è cosa nota. Ciò che lo scritto indaga è il metodo, provando a chiarire in quale modo l’architetto egiziano operi su un sistema di elementi e relazioni già codificate. Sono quindi messe in luce le principali tecniche compositive attraverso cui Fathy costruisce il proprio linguaggio, ponendosi in continuità con la storia e, al tempo stesso, dando vita ad architetture nuove, ma capaci di esprimere un forte carattere identitario. / Fathy’s work on tradition is well known. What the paper wants to explore is the method, aiming at clarifying how the Egyptian architect operates on a set of elements and relations which are already codified. Therefore, we discuss here the main compositional techniques used by Fathy to build his language, being in continuity with history and, at the same time, creating a new architecture, that is able to express a strong identity character.
