THE "VERNACULAR" AND THE "NATIONAL" IN THE CULTURAL LANDSCAPES OF ENLIGHTENMENT AND ART NOUVEAU, MID 19th - EARLY 20th CENTURY
The article deals with the construction of the "vernacular" and the "national" in the Russian architecture of the 19th - early 20th century. A brief overview of the sources on the topic is given, new materials from the funds of the Russian State Historical Archive in St. Petersburg are introduced, and less obvious directions in the "legalization of the vernacular" in the cultural landscape of the Enlightenment are proposed for discussion. The stages of the “Russian court revival” from “Russian” as “exotic” (along with “Chinese”) to “Russian” as “national” are reviewed.
