This paper intends to make a systematic description of the mecanisms of urban transform ation used by the dwellers of a housing estate built up in Porto Alegre/RS in order to understand not only how spatial changes take place w ithin the estate, but m ainly how individual interferences build a new overall structure when com pared to the original layout. In addition, it is sought to identify morphological regularities w hich can be found in this particular housing estate and in many others of this sort as well
