A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
Entre América e Abya Yala – tensões de territorialidades
This article intends to configure the tensions of environmental, social and cultural territorialities presented in the linguistic designations of Abya Yala, America, America Criolla, with their own significations and eminently political implications. The first one has been recently registered in the political lexicon of the so-called original people, who assert their own identity as political subjects as they fight against historical colonial and neo-colonial processes; the second refers to an Eurocentric designation (America); and America Criolla has different meanings in the Andean, Caribbean and Brazilian countries. Thus we characterize how the language is territorialized in a wide range of significations that enclose the environment as a whole in its multiple dimensions.
