A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
Interdisciplinarité et outils réflexifs : vers une approche globale des trames vertes urbaines
In the current context of climate change and growing urbanisation, cities face two main challenges: that of their adaptation to the emergent climatic uncertainties, and that of enhancing urban quality of life. Urban greenways have the potential to respond to these challenges. However they are complex objects, associating climate, cities and nature, and are at the boundary of several disciplines; understanding them demands interdisciplinary research bringing together, among others, climate, ecology, sociology, planning and politics. Because interdisciplinarity is a complex dynamic, this paper explores the contributions of a written and dialogic reflexivity to the implementation of interdisciplinary cooperation. This double reflexivity, taking the shape of ‘standardised presentations’, ‘participants’ workbooks’ and discussions among the concerned actors, seems indeed to: (1) facilitate the discussion of the divergences between the various disciplinary approaches, personal interests and the objectives of the project; and (2) encourage openness, reciprocity and cooperation, as well as the acknowledgement of plurality and complexity inherent to the issue of climate change and urban greenways.
