Comprendre la dynamique de la vulnérabilité à l’insécurité alimentaire au Sud-Kivu
This chapter shows that the majority of rural households in the South-Kivu live in chronic food insecurity. This situation is bound to key factor as well as, poor physical and environmental conditions, inaccessibility to agricultural funding, lack of equity in sharing income and wealth, loss of farming productivity, deterioration of basically infrastructures, poor social capital. Though harvest campaigns lead some households to reach temporary food security, it is difficult to constitute strong assets to prevent the famine period at village level. Therefore, looking to the decrease of food production, it is clear that rural households depend at a time on agricultural outputs and on non- agricultural activities. Looking to the complexity of problems, rural households seek a external support for the survival. In spite of the complexity of the problem the households have need and deserve an increased support closed to technical, financial and practices aspects.
