Considerations in architectural treatment of coworking spaces
The article examines coworking space architecture. A classification of coworking facilities is proposed as follows: offices; specialty, creativity, and educational spaces. By spatial arrangement, it could be a coworking room or a coworking complex. The architectural and planning features of coworking spaces are considered, and the main functional zones and their possible locations in the building are identified. Based on surveys of coworking facilities, we identified methods employed for organizing their space, such as Euclidean space; network space; and streaming space. This has allowed us to formulate several factors to be taken into account in the development of coworking space architecture: urban setting; functional and planning features of the existing space; multifunctionality; flexibility and transformability; and physical contents of functional zones.
