MINING OF ERUPTIVE ROCKS IN SLOVAKIA
The presented paper deals with a compex evaluation of the problem of extraction of eruptive rocks which are mostly used in the building practice in Slovakia. The greatest attention is devoted to the water absorp-tion analysis, which represents the standard criterion conditioning the eruptive rocks extraction. Partial results of a study dealing with eruptive rocks water absorption are introduced in the paper as well. The results achieved in numerous experiments proved the fact that the negative effect of water contained in eruptive rocks on their pro-perties depends on the pore structure (positive or negative) rather than on the extent (percentage) of adsorption.. The results of the experiments were applied in the process of compiling the basic SCM 72 1800 Standards (Na-tural Stone for Construction and Stone Products) where water absorption is mentioned as an informative value.
