The paper outlines the development of the commercial quarter of Obrenovac because it made possible the emergence of a formally elaborate town house in the style of Balkan architecture. The house witnessed all stages in the rise and decline of society, institutions and individuals from the time of its construction in the first half of the 19th century until its demolition in the early 2010s.
