A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
Wind energy is booming. While other sectors of the economy are in crisis, for years now the wind-energy sector has been recording double-digit growth rates. But the enthusiasm generated here is not unalloyed: at many proposed sites there have been serious conflicts with residents and other representatives of local interests. This has led to wind-energy utilisation — and how to accommodate it — becoming one of the hottest topics of the day in spatial planning. It is against this backdrop, and in the light of a number of important recent changes to the law, that this article presents a critical analysis and survey of the current state of play and offers practical suggestions and recommendations on approaches to wind-energy utilisation.
