The author intends to show that be beauty of any given work of art lies not only within the thing done or made, but also in the act of doing it and conscience of its realization. As a consequence, the main source of pleasure in aesthetic appreciation is a knowledge of the art object. In the case of architecture, such a knowledge derives from the subject’s active participation. Some kind of conception of architecture is required from him, and will intermediate his perception and the reality of the architectural object
