Mining and geotechnical monitoring in the Jelsava Slovak Magnesite Enterprise
In December 1991 an extraordinary event occurred at the Jelava deposit, which resulted in a collapse of the roof above the extracted space and a surface crater was created. With aim to secure the safety of work under the surface a seismoacoustic monitoring system UGA - 15 was installed in July 1993, which compensates the analoque monitoring of the seismoacoustic activity. The new monitoring system enables a more detailed study of seismicity with the aim to create a continuous seismoacoustic monitoring, so it is possible with a sufficient accuracy to localize seismic events, to determine their energies values, and seismic regime for individual areas of the deposit. In thecase of approached callus it enables in time to secure active working places in endangered area.
